Survey from the Northwest/West Central Public School Advocacy Network

Superintendents from nearly 40 school districts, career centers and educational service centers

spanning 10-plus counties have formed a network to advocate for positive changes in public

education that they believe will make for better schools.

The Northwest/West Central Ohio Public School Advocacy Network grew from concerns over a

loss of local control in public education. The group believes there are many areas within public

education where if local control was restored, it would improve education and benefit schools

and students.

The group believes that locally-controlled public education with governmental support is valued

over public education dominated by government regulations. School officials, board members,

teachers, students and parents should have the bulk share of the say about the direction of their

own school districts.

The first initiative of the network is to survey people about public education.

The goal of the survey is to find out the perception people have of their school districts, where

they believe decisions about public schools should be made and to measure the general

knowledge people have about public schools.

Seneca East along with many other school districts in Northwest / West Central Ohio is conducting this parent/community survey.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey at the link below, answer the questions as they pertain to Seneca East Local Schools.

Board Approves Latin Honors Distinctions

Starting with the class of 2015-16, students at Seneca East High School may now graduate with Latin Honor distinctions in order to recognize academic achievement in our students. Seniors earning a cumulative GPA of 3.5 - 3.7499 after seven semesters of study will graduate cum laude. Students who maintain a 3.75 to a 3.899 on their cumulative GPA may graduate magna cum laude, and top students earning a 3.9 or over will be graduating summa cum laude. Each distinction will be noted in the graduation programs and will also be designated with colored cords to be worn during the graduation ceremony. The Latin Honors system will be an additional recognition to the school's Top 10%, National Honor Society members, and Honors Diploma recipients, and will give our students additional recognition when filling out college and scholarship application forms.
