New York Times best-selling author, George O'Connor, creator of The Olympians series and many other graphic novels and picture books visited Seneca East on Monday, May 2nd. He talked with 3rd-7th graders and hosted an after-school Comics-Making workshop for interested students.
On May 3rd, Seneca East seniors participated in a program called the "Grim Reaper." Since a teenager is killed every 30 minutes in an alcohol related accident, these students were designated as one of the statistics. A person assigned as the "grim reaper" came in to a classroom and randomly chose a student to leave. The student was then given a t-shirt to change into and returned back to the classroom, but only as a memory. The student could no longer socialize or participate in class discussions. This activity was to help to encourage everyone to have a fun, but safe prom.
