District Perfomance

The Seneca East School District is located in Attica, Ohio.  We are a rural school district of approximately 930 students.  The Seneca East Local School District is committed to the total development of each student by fostering the growth of the whole person through education.  The District seeks to encourage students to perform at the height of their ability in preparation to become the leaders of tomorrow.  The mission is accompanied by developing critical thinking skills, social accountability, creativity, effective communication, and a solid work ethic.  In addition to the statistical information presented on the Department of Education’s  District  Report Card we would like you to know of a few of our many accomplishments for the betterment of our students.

*76% of students who took an AP Exam in Spring 2017 earned a score of 3 or higher

College Credit Plus

During the 2016/17 school year, 62 students earned 490 semester hours of college credit through Bowling Green State University, Heidelberg University, North Central State College, Owens Community College, Terra Community College, Tiffin University, and The University of Findlay.  

Digital Literacy and Applications, DLS 1090, through Terra Community College was taught by a Seneca East teacher during the 16/17 school year and Environment of Life, BIOL 1010, through Bowling Green State University is being taught by a Seneca East teacher during the 17/18 school year.

Gifted and Talented Services

Students identified as gifted in grade one are served in clustered groups of gifted students as well as pull out programs beginning in grade three.   Students also are able to participate in grade and/or subject acceleration to meet his/her individual needs.

National Merit Scholars

Two students from the Class of 2017 were recognized as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program for their outstanding academic promise.

Career-Technical Center

During the 2017/18 school year, 34% of juniors are enrolled in a Sentinel Career and Technology center program, and 30% of seniors are enrolled in a Sentinel program.

Class of 2017

29% of the Class of 2017 have enrolled in a two-year program and 39% have enrolled in a four-year program.  5% of the Class of 2017 have enlisted in the military and 12% have planned to pursue jobs in their career center field of study.

Graduation

100%  of our 2017 Seniors graduated on time, and 100% of our current seniors and juniors are on track to graduate on time.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Seneca East has a K-12 Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support system fully implemented.  

Seneca East Elementary and Seneca East Middle School have both been awarded BRONZE level state awards for their PBIS schoolwide programs.

Technology

Seneca East is a technology rich environment.  Students and teachers use Google Classroom  a 1:1 initiative, and online textbooks  in grade 4-12 to provide instructional lessons, learning activities, enrichment, interventions, collaborative projects, and assessments. Grades K-3 also have technology rich classrooms, with Chromebooks, mobile devices, Smart Boards, and digital document cameras.

Each year multiple classes and groups take part in educational travel outside of the school district, state, and even the country.  

Band Trip to New York City, Veterans Day Parade

Senior Trip, each year the destination is selected by seniors and their parents

6th graders travel to Camp NuHop for three days of outdoor education

8th graders travel to Washington DC and Gettysburg

Cross Country Team travels out of state every other year, this year’s trip is to Nashville

FFA travels to the National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana annually.
