SE Students Participate in Northwest Ohio Honors Orff Music Festival

Fifteen students and sixteen instruments went to Maumee High School Performing Arts Center for the all-day Northwest Ohio Honors Orff Music Festival.

Kids in grades 3-5 from all over NW Ohio gathered together, and in groups, worked with master Orff music teachers, and a guest conductor. They experimented with movement, playing xylophones, recorders and small percussion, accompanying songs, improvising melodies in Lydian (!) and shared 6 songs as a 175 voice choir for friends and families. A big day! We had a pizza lunch and met a lot of other kids who love music class. Mrs. Huenemann was an assistant in the "Stars" group and had a great time.

Survey from the Northwest/West Central Public School Advocacy Network

Superintendents from nearly 40 school districts, career centers and educational service centers

spanning 10-plus counties have formed a network to advocate for positive changes in public

education that they believe will make for better schools.

The Northwest/West Central Ohio Public School Advocacy Network grew from concerns over a

loss of local control in public education. The group believes there are many areas within public

education where if local control was restored, it would improve education and benefit schools

and students.

The group believes that locally-controlled public education with governmental support is valued

over public education dominated by government regulations. School officials, board members,

teachers, students and parents should have the bulk share of the say about the direction of their

own school districts.

The first initiative of the network is to survey people about public education.

The goal of the survey is to find out the perception people have of their school districts, where

they believe decisions about public schools should be made and to measure the general

knowledge people have about public schools.

Seneca East along with many other school districts in Northwest / West Central Ohio is conducting this parent/community survey.
Please take a few moments to complete the survey at the link below, answer the questions as they pertain to Seneca East Local Schools.
